The wines and our wine cellars
In this zone since 1400, a valuable wine denominated "Veltolinasco veglio" has been made for special occasions.
To cultivate vines in Valtellina is a great responsability. It means maintaining a millennium-long legacy of generations that with infinite sacrifices built more than 2500 km dry-walls. The biggest area in Italy.
Valtellina - muretti a secco Dominated La Valtellina it has been in time a crossroads of great arteries of communication and a place of several invasions and occupations. This has produced strong influences on alimentary customs but it has also served in order to construct, as a defence, a strong territorial identity, thus every country and village conserves its recipe, its products and its vegetable and animal identities.
A land of great naturalistic beauty la Valtellina does not hide its art of wine making: every piece of land, even those situated in inaccessible zones are covered with tidy lines of chestnut trees. A real true winegrowing mountain constituted from a millenary tradition e a lot of passion. The predominate grape in the valley is the "Nebbiolo", here it's called "chiavennasca", with which is produced, together with other local vines which are clearly a smaller, the various denominations of the valley dwellers: the DOC Valtellina and the DOCG Valtellina superior divided into four areas Sassella, Grumello, Inferno e Valgella.
A full bodied wine and a very wide reputation are "lo Sforzato" or "Sfursat" produced by squashing the grapes, slow fermentation of at least 24 months of sharpening (between wood and glass).
A tour of food-and-wine between one of the most spectacular scenes of Italy inside of which there are numerous activities amongst some: walks in an unforgettable, visits to historical places, antique castles, appetizing pauses from delicious local dishes in some of the best restaurants of the zone, wine tasting near the best local wine cellars and visits of some of the terraced vines among the most characteristic areas of Valtellina.

Vine yard Triacca: I Fratelli Triacca
Our grandfathers Domenico and Peter at the end of the 19th century sold wines from the local zone called Poschia. In 1897 they bought a small Vineyard in Valgella, but to be able to sell their wines they opened a wine shop in Campascio. In the Twenties the two brother’s families both founders of the company separated. One opened a company by the name of Peter Triacca and the other as Triacca bros...

Vine yard Pietro Nera
The NERA family run business in wine growing and wine producing was begun in the ‘40s by Guido Nera. He was succeeded, at the end of the ‘50s, by his son Pietro who with obstinacy and pride has acquired about 40 hectares of vineyards situated in the classical D.O.G.C. production areas: Sassella, Inferno, Grumello, Valgella...

Vine yard Aldo Rainoldi
The company was founded in 1925 by Aldo Rainoldi, the son of Giuseppe, who was already well known at the time ad trader-exporter of wines and agricultural products to nearby Switzerland.
