The Valtellina
The Alps have a heart! Divine, geographic and wonderful surroundings that's the Valtellina!
This "magnificent land" is actuality situated in the centre of the Alps : seeing them and taking the passages realises countless emotions which can take you back as far as ancient times and further, these passages were once used by soldiers and today still attract many tourists, this is the direct road leading to the North and South of Europe.
You can arrive simply, by car from Milan by taking the Via SS 36 Lecco - colico it is little less than 90 kilometres you will arrive at Piantedo and here you are already at the opening of the valley, continuing along the SS 36 until you arrive at Chiavenna then along the SS 38 until you get to Sondrio, Tirano and (the high) l'Alta Valtellina.
There are many trains that go from Milano to Sondrio (takes about two hours), and then from here to Tirano (another 30 minutes), from here there are busses going to all main localities and you can travel to St. Moritz by what is known as the "trenino rosso" (the little red train) from Bernina (

The airports in Lombardy are at hand: there is Orio al Serio (Bergamo-Milan) about 80 kilometres from Piantedo, Linate (Milan) which is about 90 kilometres and Malpensa (Milan) which is about 100 Kilometres. The MTBUS service is very comfortable (

(
