Tour of Valgella
1st day. – arrive at 19.00 in the Hotel – zone Teglio / Tirano – accommodation in room, dinner in a typical restaurant, over-night stay.
2nd day. – After breakfast leaving for the tour on the route: Teglio, Bianzone, Tresenda, The Villa of Tirano, Tirano, Teglio with lunch in a typical restaurant.
Distance of the route 25 km. Duration about 5 hours .
The same route can begin and end at Tirano.
This route puts together a multitude of walks starting from mountain places of Teglio, the patriot of “pizzocchero”, a typical Valtellinese dish, where it is possible to see the various phases of the work. Situated at 851 meters altitude, Teglio still conserves today a historical nucleus with numerous buildings of remarkable value architectonic. The sixteenth century Besta square was constructed around 1433, on a pre existent feudal castle It’s one of the best and most represented examples of Valtellinese patrician Renaissance architecture. On a jagged rock that dominates the valley found in a strategic position, the Torre "Deli Beli Miri" rises, probably constructed by the Romans and at a few meters, the small Church called Chiesa di S.Stefano (sec. XVI), originally late Medieval. Going down the valley towards Tirano to reach S.Giacomo of Teglio and Tresenda, an antique walking place along the Adda River. Continuing on the state road you will arrive at Bianzone to visit the vines of the Estate “La Gatta” and the wine cellars of Casa vinicola Triacca, Swiss wine grower and producers for over 100 years, this finishes the tour in Tirano. Already lived in during the Prehistoric times, Tirano became famous in the seventeenth century for the miracle appearance of the Madonna (Virgin Mary) in honour of this the Santuario della Beata Vergine (Sanctuary of the Beata Virgin),was built the most religious and important building of the valley. The historic centre is one between the most interesting and impressive of the whole Valtellina, with Noble richness and antique; between these there are Palazzo Salis, one of the most antique in Valtellina, built between 1630 and 1690 that apart from the decorations, furniture and artistic objects you can find the prestige and antique wine cellars of the wine house Casa vinicola Sertoli Salis. The cellars of refinement and ageing are the main body of the Palace where you can visit and wine taste as well as taste the local traditional food products. The little town is also famous for the train Bernina Express "the little red train of Bernina", that takes you to St. Moritz , it climbs the track to Bernina at an altitude of 2253 meters, between breathtaking scenes and declared on the 7th of July 2008 World-wide patrimony UNESCO.

For lovers of Mountain Bike (MBK) and Trekking of noted interest, for nature walking but not all, the Malviventi path“ sentèe dài Màlviwent” that leaves from the centre of the Villa of Tirano and continues along the coast line of the terraced vines until you reach the near Switzerland. With this acronym the local population meant to use this passage in the early 800s for the transport prisoners to the penitentiary of Cologne in Livigno.
Used successively in the beginning of the `900s by smugglers on the Italy – Switzerland border.
