Tour of Sassella
1st day – Arrive at hr. 19.00 at the hotel in the area of Sondrio –arrangement in your room, dinner in a typical restaurant, overnight stay.
2nd day – after breakfast departure for the tour route: Sondrio, Sassella, Triasso, Castione, Piatta, Triangia, Mossini, Sondrio with Lunch in a typical restaurant. Distance of the route km 30. Duration 4 h. about.
The route starts from Sondrio and arrives at the Sanctuary of the “Beata Vergine Annunciata” of Sassella that remembers the appearance in 932, to the archpriest of Sondrio, of the Virgin who asked that a small church be build in his honour. Across from the sanitary, we can find the Sassella tower, today reconstructed and used as a restaurant. Found a few hundred meters from the s.s.38 of the Stelvio at 2 km from Sondrio. From here you can take the path that takes you up through the vines, about twenty minutes until you arrive at the fraction of Triasso, from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of the valley and the river Adda. You can re-take the ss. 38 of the Stelvio, toward North, a few km from Sondrio, to reach Castione Andevenno one of the most beautiful countries of the middle Valtellina, so much it gained the nickname “giardino di Valtellina” the garden of Valtellina. We are in the superior zone of Grisùn, where you can find one of the most famous wines of Valtellina. These areas have been inhabited since ancient times: Different, in fact, they are the testimony of prehistoric stone incisions found in the zone between the Ganda and Triangia, a little under 800 metres. You can re-descend along-side the houses of the fraction of Mossini 480 m to reach the convent of St. Lorenzo. Originally there was a castle, going back to the times of the longobarda nomination, but the owners De Capitanei, made of it a female Benedettino monastery at the end of the XI century, which was then expanded after a fire in 1670. The tour finishes with a visit to the cellars AR.PE.PE in Sondrio in the locality Trippi for wine tasting and a visit of the company for an appetizing stop in a typical restaurant or a holiday farm in the zone.

For lovers of mountain bike (MBK) e trekking of noted interest, for nature walks and not only, the track which from via Moroni just above Castione Andevenno, across the via Ca’ Bianca, which take you to Triasso along the whole route of Sassella across the suggested terraced vines that characterise the zone of production of Sassella DOCG.
